End of the road

The word on many Singaporeans' lips yesterday was the closing of Tanjong Pagar Railway Station. You never know what you miss when it is gone. Many Singaporeans turned up on the last day of operations of the KTM trains yesterday, to have a last look. But I suspect that many came to have the first look. Except for history buffs, and buildings buffs, few would venture into this railway station on a normal day. They'd rather hit the Malls where there are lots more to see and do than to come to this place where the most exciting thing happening is the arrival and departure of the, let's admit it, ultra-slow trains. And even then, once you've seen it often enough, it will probably be a bore.

I took this train up to Malacca a few years ago, and the entire journey took 3 hours! I would have almost reached KL in the same time if I went up by private car by the North-South Highway. It is a train system that probably has seen little improvements over the years. Truth be told, some parts of the train are rusted. But at least I sat in first class coach. It wasn't exactly the Eastern Orient Express First Class, but it was comfortable. Moreover, it was just S$50 from Singapore's side, and RM50 from Malaysia's side. My wife and I were in front of the TV when the news came on yesterday. It showed many people milling around and taking pictures. We looked at each other with knowing glances. Were we glad we took this train some years back. At least we have bragging rights.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

To all the dad's out there, Happy Father's Day. Just to let you know that although we don't mention it enough, you are really an integral part of the family. After all, for most of us, choosing a father for our children is not a particularly easy thing to do these days.

Like a friend of mine, married twice and having had a string of failed relationships, I always remember her words, 'If I can have a man to stay long enough with me to celebrate Father's Day, that will be an achievement.'

But then again, not many know what I know about her. She has two kids from different men but thankfully for her, she is managing just fine. In fact her business has just expanded. She now claims she doesn't need a man in her life. Well, perhaps but I feel that for children, having a man around can make a really big difference in the lives of the kids.

Anyway, if you have been a good dad and a naughty husband, enjoy your treat. I'm certain my significant other will enjoy his treat.

SEX PROBLEMS

I love this cartoon. It was worth a laugh. You know you got problems when even cybersex won't work for me. But seriously, for me, it never did. I mean I've had phone sex and it was good for a while but when the Internet came around, and later when chat was available, it just didn't appeal to me.

NO MORE AN EXCUSE

Well guys, apparently, our usual excuse for not wanting sex, you know the 'I've got a headache tonight' excuse is no longer a valid excuse. Not that I have ever used it because it's for me, a good workout and release from a hard day's work.

Anyway, sex is found to actually alleviate headaches. So the next time your partner says that, it's time for you to play doctor.

On a side note, sex actually once did leave me with a massive headache. I was being taken doggy style some years ago, when my palms found the satin sheets too slippery and before I could grab on to the sheets, my hands buckled and my head acquainted itself with the headboard.

SEX PERKS - PART 4

Here is the continuation of the Sex Perks series. Before anything, I'd like to thank all those who sent in their ideas of what sex means to them and how it has helped them in their lives. Thank you so much.

So this installment, I'd like to talk about how sex can make a perfect workout. I mean if it becomes jaded somewhat over the years, you can always have an excuse to have sex. It is for you to stay fit and slim.

Agree or not, sex is one of the most enjoyable and active sports one can indulge in on a regular basis. Whether it is a wild or relaxing session, it helps to stretch and tone the muscles of your body. Many friends and acquaintances often what is my secret for staying so slim and fit (hardly so, but I'll take anything at this age) and I often tell them without blinking an eye that I have lots of sex.

Thanks to my significant other's love for adventure sports, I've tried quite a bit of them but I can tell you for a fact that sex is equally and can even be more energising. Besides, it's cheaper and there is no gear involved (well almost no gear).

I read somewhere that you can actually burn up to 550 calories at a go with average intensity sex. And depending on the positions you get into, it can be a great tummy flatener. But please, don't take my word for it.

SEX PERKS - PART 5

Disturbed or insufficient sleep has proven to have profound consequences in a woman's life. It can affect every area of her wellbeing. One study by the National Sleep Foundation revealed that over 50% of women with sleep problems admit to it having had a negative impact on their daily activities.

Unfortunately, with more and more women treating sleep as a luxury due to their busy lives. And here's a statistic for you, 'More women than men (twice) complain of sleep problems.'

The average number of hours slept by these women in the survey is 5.25 hours - far less than the 7-8 hours ideally required to function properly. Some other stats: 46% reported interference in their daily responsibilities, 34% reported problems in their relationship (from exhaustion in keeping up) and 27% reported job impairment.

One solution - Sex!

Researchers had found that the biochemical releases and changes that occur during sex can actually aid sleep. (Of course many of us already knew that). By comparison, sex works better than any other sleeping pill as you sleep 25% longer and without the side-effects. Sex makes you go into deep sleep and you can expect to be more alert and active the day after. And you will likely have enough energy for sports or, more sex.

NO FUR PLEASE!

When I was modeling in my younger days, I remember that we were really at the mercy of our agents. However, I recall one time, (I was freelancing then), I swiftly turned down the opportunity to model for an international fashion house because they had a range of furs that they wanted to market here.

What was wrong with that? Here in Singapore? Perhaps Korea and Japan up north would be more appropriate but that was not the point. My point was then at that time, I was very much against using animal fur in apparel of any sort. I was aghast and told them I would not do it.

I was then called all sorts of names from unprofessional to stupid, but I stood my ground. Of course I didn't get the gig and lost the opportunity to make some big bucks with that fashion show, but it didn't bother me.

Today, I am still very much against the use of animal fur or any animal part for that matter, in anything fashion related. All this came to mind when I found this ad. I really hope you will pitch in an do your part. No matter how small you think it is, it ain't.

EBONY OR IVORY?

I just received these dildos recently and was asked to 'test-drive' them. Before I did however, I asked quite a few of my lady friends about which one they preferred. These are 8 inches in length and about 1 1/2 inches wide, with a nasty curve halfway and very realistic veins.

It's also not too rigid and bends enough when its inside of you, so it it quite comfortable. However, women with sensitive walls, may not take to these two because it can cause some uncomfortable friction. Otherwise, it is a great toy to have.

So I asked about nine women and the black dildo takes the cake but only just, 5-4. It appears that women are not too particular about colour but about more how comfortable and flexible it is.
